BANGOR – The 110th anniversary tribute in memory of the sinking of the battleship U.S.S. Maine in Havana Harbor, Cuba, will be celebrated at noon Friday, Feb. 15, at Davenport Park at the corner of Main and Cedar streets.
Ceremonies will begin with a flag raising and Pledge of Allegiance followed by an invocation by Rev. Carl Schreib and the national anthem. Master of Ceremonies Paul S. Colburn, past District 4 Commander, will do the introductions, and Rob A. Hudson, commanding officer of the Bangor Naval Operational Support Center, will give the memorial address.
A floral tribute will be provided by Bangor Navy Operational Support Center and the rifle/honor salute will be provided by Bangor High School’s ROTC firing squad. Taps and a benediction will round out the ceremonies.
