BANGOR – City councilors this week settled contracts with three of the city’s unions.
The city’s labor agreements with all three groups expired last June 30. All of the new three-year contracts are retroactive to that date.
These are key terms for each:
. Police department commanding officers
Terms include: wage increases of 3 percent for the first year and 3.25 percent for each of the next two years; a new health insurance carrier, rates and cost-sharing base plan; increases in educational incentives; acting lieutenant pay; private-duty extras; an incentive payment for successful completion of a physical fitness assessment; new disciplinary language; and the addition of new pay steps in the contract’s second and third years.
. Fleet maintenance employees
Terms include: 3 percent pay increases for each year covered by the contract; a new health insurance carrier, rates and cost-sharing base plan; small adjustments in the tool allowance and uniform rental; the addition of a small stipend for those holding a Class A commercial driving license and inspection license; and the addition of new pay steps in the contract’s second and third years.
. Airport and building maintenance
Terms include: 3 percent pay increases for each year covered by the contract; a new health insurance carrier, rates and cost-sharing base plan; small adjustments in the boot allowance; acting supervisor pay; and the addition of new pay steps in the contract’s second and third years.
