BUCKSPORT – Just after noon Wednesday, a multicar crash occurred on Route 15 near the Bucksport-Orrington town line that required one woman to be extricated from her car.

“We had to cut the door off to get her out,” Orrington Fire Chief Mike Spencer said Wednesday, just after leaving the hospital.

Orrington’s ambulance service took a 38-year-old Bucksport man with minor cuts and abrasions to a hand and his hip to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and an ambulance from Brewer took the woman, who suffered a loss of consciousness at the scene and an ankle injury.

“The road conditions were horrible,” Spencer said, “a lot of ice. One car crossed the centerline and hit the other car.”

A third vehicle went off the road behind the crash scene and hit a guardrail, resulting in minor damage to the man’s truck but no personal injury, the fire chief said.

Bucksport fire and rescue departments handled the scene. The roadway was closed for a period, but has reopened.
