BANGOR – Delta Air Lines will fly once daily from Bangor International Airport to New York City and add a third daily flight to Boston beginning June 5.

The flight from Bangor to John F. Kennedy International Airport will leave BIA at 11:30 a.m. and arrive in New York at 1:15 p.m., according to a press release. The additional Delta flight to Boston will leave Bangor at 5:25 p.m.

“We have continued our discussions with Delta’s planning department and we are very excited about their decision to add New York service and expand their Boston service during the summer season,” BIA director Rebecca Hupp said in a statement.

Delta presently flies two flights to Boston from BIA in 50-seat regional jets, departing daily at 5:50 a.m. and 1:35 p.m. Delta also flies to Cincinnati and Atlanta.

The airlines at BIA fly to Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Detroit, Newark, N.J., Orlando, Fla., and Philadelphia. There are also seasonal flights to Minneapolis and New York’s La Guardia and JFK.

“We are extremely pleased to offer our customers increased service from the ‘heart’ of Maine to Boston and New York this summer,” Joe Esposito, managing director of schedule planning for Delta, said in a statement. “Whether vacationing or traveling for business, Delta’s three flights from Bangor to Boston and the new service to JFK will allow for increased connecting opportunities, while offering convenient times of travel.”
