WINSLOW – Nick Covell scored the winning goal off of a Ryan Daniel assist with 53 seconds left in regulation to lead the Old Town Coyotes to a 3-2 high school hockey win over the Skowhegan Indians Monday at Sukee Arena.

Cody Cross tied it at 2-2 at 4:32 into the third period on a Jason Smith assist for Old Town. Daniel scored the Coyotes’ first goal in the second on a Pat Singer assist. Dan Lebreton stopped 21 of 23 shots.

Mike Lyman and Garrett Richardson scored second-period goals for Skowhegan. Brett Savage and Jake Tracy provided assist. Jimmy Quirion made 11 saves on 14 shots.

Bangor 12, Mount Ararat 1

At Bangor’s Sawyer Arena, Seb Dionne had a hat trick with three goals to help lead Bangor to victory over Mount Ararat of Topsham.

Alan Reese had two goals and an assist for the 10-9 Rams while Joey Seccareccia and Dave Pardilla scored two goals apiece.

Ted Murray and Nate Lewis each had a goal and an assist and Johnny Warren scored once for Bangor. Christian Dionne assisted four goals and Cameron Taylor and Noah Frost both had two assists. Andrew Riley and Zach Hamilton combined to stop 13 of 14 shots.

Andrew Snider scored an unassisted goal in the third period for 1-18 Mount Ararat. Chris McIntire made 35 saves on 47 shots.

Vinalhaven, Valley advance

At the Augusta Civic Center, Amelia Davidson scored 22 points to help lead No. 3 Vinalhaven to a 61-28 victory over No. 6 Greater Portland Christian in the first game of a Class D quarterfinal twinbill.

No. 2 Valley of Bingham had a 40-15 win over No. 7 Rangeley in the opener.

In the first game, Danielle Woodward led Greater Portland Christian with 11 points.

In the second game, Morgan Staples scored 16 points to help lead Valley and Jocelyn Lawyerson added 13 points.

Sam Olivieri paced Rangeley with five points.

Tyler Cummings led Hall-Dale with 15 points. Josh Acedo scored 12 points and Mike Shepard chipped in 11 points.

Larry Foster scored 17 points for Winthrop and Sam Mullen added 14 points.
