MAINE vs. BOSTON UNIVERSITY

Time, site: Wednesday, 7 p.m.; Case Gym, Boston

Team records: Maine 7-17 (4-7 America East); BU 13-10 (6-4)

Series, last meeting: Maine leads 40-21, Maine 82-77 on 1/23/08

Key players: Maine – 6-0 F Brittany Boser (9.5 ppg, 5.8 rpg, .500 FG pct.), 5-11 F Tanna Ross (9.3 ppg, 3.3 rpg), 5-9 G/F Amanda Tewksbury (8.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg), 6-0 F Colleen Kilmurray (8.7 ppg, 5.5 rpg), 5-7 G Kris Younan (5.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 2.2 spg), 6-4 F/C Christina Mosher (4.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg); BU – 6-1 F Jesyka Burks-Wiley (14.1 ppg, 6.4 rpg), 6-1 F Aly Hinton (10.1 ppg, 5.5 rpg), 6-3 F Kasey Devine (9.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg), 5-7 G Cheri Raffo (9.3 ppg), 5-8 G Christine Kinneary (7.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 7.0 apg)

Outlook: The Black Bears look to complete a season sweep of the Terriers and continue their fight to improve their place in the league standings. UMaine could sneak into sixth place with the combination of a win and a UMBC loss. However, the Bears’ injury-thinned lineup will be tested by a BU squad that is 8-1 at home this season. Challenges for UMaine will include taking care of the ball and slowing down an offense that leads the conference with 70.1 ppg in AE contests. BU, which snapped a two-game losing streak by beating Binghamton on Wednesday, has been idle since. The Terriers have good inside-outside balance and solid 3-point threats. UMaine continues to adjust after the loss of freshman guard Emily Rousseau of Biddeford to a knee injury last week. Ross’ availability also is limited because of a knee problem.
