CASTINE – Maine Maritime Academy placed three scorers in double figures as they improved to 11-2 in NAC play with a convincing 65-40 women’s basketball victory over UMaine-Farmington.

Megan Franklin spearheaded the Mariners’ attack with 11 points and eight rebounds for the Mariners, who outscored the Beavers 31-18 in the second half.

Tatum Welch tossed in 10 points and grabbed 14 boards for Maine Maritime (16-8 overall) and Brittany Hunt 10 points.

Jillian Ross paced the 10-12 Beavers with 15 points while Ashley Busque netted nine.

Colby 65, UM-Presque Isle 53

At Presque Isle, Colby College of Waterville outscored the University of Maine at Presque Isle 42-21 in the second half to steal the win.

Meredith Aronson and Alison Cappelloni led Colby with 15 points apiece. Karlyn Adler and Katie McCabe each scored 12 points

Julie Wescott led the Owls with 14 points and Erica Davis scored 13 points.

At Castine, Neil Stewart collected his ninth double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds as Maine Maritime Academy won their seventh straight NAC contest.

The 10-12 Mariners outscored UMaine-Farmington (11-13) 33-25 in the second half and outrebounded the Beavers 39-33.

Chad Paddock chipped in eight points and eight rebounds for MMA.

Eric Lelansky paced the Beavers with 15 points on five 3-pointers while Isaac Hutchinson added 13 points and Andrew Dean 10.

Plymouth State 54, USM 53

At Gorham, Ben Huntington scored 17 points to help lead Plymouth State University to the narrow victory over the University of Southern Maine.

Mike Chergey had 14 points for Plymouth State.

Jamaal Caterina led the Huskies with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Drew Coppenrath chipped in 12 points.
