. ORPC Maine LLC of Denmark and Eastport has developed proprietary OCGen technology to convert tidal currents into emission-free electricity. A prior MTI Development Award helped ORPC Maine test the core component of the technology in Eastport and the new award will help demonstrate technical feasibility and allow the company to seek funding for the next stage of commercialization. Award: $211,200. Match: $200,000. Technology Sector: Environmental

. RSE Pulp & Chemical LLC of Old Town will apply the award toward research and development of methods to integrate the University of Maine’s proprietary, patent-pending pre-extraction process for the extraction of hemicelluloses from wood chips. The pre-extraction process has significant technical and commercial advantages over competing technologies, since it can be integrated into existing pulp facilities infrastructures for the transition to an alternative fuels and chemicals biorefinery. Award: $500,000. Match: $1.1 million. Technology: Advanced Technology for Forestry and Agriculture

. PK Floats Inc. of Lincoln is developing an innovative float design for a newly certified aircraft that will provide greater fuel efficiency, increased reliability and enhanced safety of amphibious aircraft. Using new composite materials, the design will allow pilots greater flexibility in passenger and cargo loads, while increasing versatility of component design in both land and seaplane configurations. Award: $500,000. Match: $505,300. Technology: Composite Materials, Precision Manufacturing.
