Business Ownership 101
BANGOR – MaineStream Finance will offer the Business Ownership 101 class 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Penquis, 262 Harlow St. The class will provide an overview of operating a small business, business plans and resources for business development assistance.

‘Money and Spirituality’
BANGOR – The Maine Women’s Fund has formed a Greater Bangor Regional Council to support the women of the community. On the council are Julia Comeau, Gerry Dorsey, Jennifer Eastman, Lucie Estabrook, Judy Groth, Erica Libby and Gretchen Ziemer; and two Maine Women’s Fund staff members, Elizabeth Stefanski and Brianna McCabe.
The first Bangor event is “Money and Spirituality: It’s Your Life Worth, Not Your Net Worth,” set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Bangor Public Library. The event is sponsored by Merrill Lynch.
Topics include the meaning of the money that buys the bread and reconciling the pursuit of worldly wealth with an enlightened life.
There will be a panel discussion with Margo Maller of Merrill Lynch, Rabbi Darah Lerner of Congregation Beth El and Regal Naseef of Habitat for Humanity.

Development certification
HERMON – The Department of Economic and Community Development announced that Ntension Corp. has received Pine Tree Development Zone certification.
The Pine Tree Zone program is a performance-based tax incentive initiative to stimulate growth in targeted business sectors and create jobs.
Ntension designs and manufactures high-quality custom made exhibits. The company will, in part, use the Pine Tree Zone benefits for building improvements and the purchase of machinery and equipment. Five new jobs will be created.
