SKOWHEGAN – Unity Raceway is being sued by an auto racing television host who was badly injured during an accident two years ago.

John Crawford’s lawyer says the Mainely Motorsports host suffered permanent injuries after a car went airborne and smashed through a 12-foot fence near where Crawford was standing in April 2006.

Crawford was dragged face-down for about 20 feet before being pinned under the car. His attorney, Josh Tardy, says Crawford is lucky to be alive.

The lawsuit filed in Somerset County Superior Court seeks unspecified damages. A court official said Friday no response to the suit had been filed.

Crawford used to lease and manage the raceway.
