FARMINGTON – Erin Porter totaled 37 points in two games to lead the University of Maine-Farmington women’s basketball team to two victories over the weekend.
UMF beat Lesley on Saturday 78-67 and rolled by Bay Path 70-28 on Sunday.
Porter scored 17 points Saturday to spark UMF from a six-point halftime deficit. Jillian Ross added 14 points for the Beavers and Samantha Wiley had 10 points.
On Sunday, Porter netted 20 points and Ross added 10 as UMF rolled. Erin Johnson had 11 rebounds.

The Bengals then claimed the conference championship Sunday, beating SUNY Canton 70-65 at Southern Maine Community College.
On Saturday, Ashley Ames registered a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Shir Fuchs tallied 14 points.
Women’s hockey
Connecticut sweeps Maine
At Storrs, Conn., Dominique Thibault had a combined three goals and three assists to help the University of Connecticut defeat the University of Maine. UConn beat the Black Bears 7-2 on Saturday and 5-4 Sunday.
In Saturday’s game, Thibault scored two goals for Connecticut while Amy Hollstein, Nicole Tritter and Brittany Murphy each had a goal and an assist. Jennie Bellonio and Brittany Wilson combined to stop 20 of 22 shots.
Jennie Gallo and Jordan Colliton scored for the Black Bears. Robyn Law and Vanessa Vani assisted on Gallo’s goal and Abby Barton and Pam Patterson assisted Colliton’s goal. Genevieve Turgeon made 34 saves on 41 shots.
In Sunday’s game, Jennifer Chiasson scored twice to lead the 22-5-5 Huskies and Wilson made 26 saves on 30 shots.
Colliton and Patterson each scored a goal and provided an assist for 4-25-3 Maine. Law and Taryn Peacock tallied a goal each. Barton, Gallo and Vani each provided two assists. Sarah Bishop turned away 22 of 27 shots.

At South Portland on Saturday, Rui Camo piled up 19 points and 17 rebounds to power second-seeded College of St. Joseph to a Sunrise Conference semifinal win over No. 3 UMaine-Machias.
Charles Calligan’s 16-point effort led the Clippers. Eric Righter provided 14 points and eight rebounds, and Anthony McCoy added nine points and nine boards.
