Bangor man sold drugs near school, police say

Brewer police arrested Anthony M. Landry, 18, of Bangor on Saturday afternoon and charged him with trafficking in marijuana and OxyContin.

Bangor police officers had informed Brewer police earlier this month that there was suspected drug activity at the Twin City Motel on Wilson Street. When Brewer Cpl. Levi Sewall and Officer Edward Willey investigated Saturday, “we found a large amount of marijuana in the room and some pharmaceuticals, OxyContin,” Sewall said Monday.

Because the motel room used to sell the drugs is within 1,000 feet of Brewer High School, the charges were elevated to aggravated trafficking of Schedule Z drugs for the marijuana, and aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs for the OxyContin, Sewall said. The charges are punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a $20,000 fine.

Landry was taken to Penobscot County Jail and made bail over the weekend. He is scheduled to appear in Penobscot County Superior Court in May, Sewall said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)

A white 2006 Yamaha moped was reported stolen just before noon Monday from its parking spot behind the Bangor Mall-area Circuit City retail store.

The small motorcycle, which was owned by an employee of the store, was in working condition, Bangor police Sgt. Brad Johnston said Monday afternoon.

“Whether [the suspect] rode it away or loaded it into a truck, I do not know,” Johnston said.

Police continue to search for the missing vehicle and thief. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
