The Maine Department of Labor and the Maine Jobs Council will hold a free conference in Bangor this spring for current and prospective employers of foreign-born workers.
The conference will offer information on foreign labor certification and compliance with federal and state laws. Employers will have the opportunity to discuss their concerns about existing immigration policies. The U.S. Department of Labor has suggested changes to rules for H2A and H2B workers, which also will be reviewed.
The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. April 15 at the Sea Dog Banquet & Conference Center, 26 Front St. For information and to register, contact Linda Nickerson at the Maine Bureau of Labor Standards in Augusta, 623-7931, or linda.b.nickerson@maine.gov.
