PRESQUE ISLE – Lowell Matthews blasted home a pass from Mike Epley with 4:56 remaining in the third period to lift No. 5 Houlton-Hodgdon to a 3-2 victory over No. 4 Presque Isle in an Eastern Maine Class B hockey quarterfinal at the Northern Maine Forum Monday night.

The Black Hawks will face top-seeded Winslow in a 5 p.m. semifinal Saturday at Sukee Arena in Winslow.

Craig Buxton and Epley each scored a goal in the first period for Houlton-Hodgdon. Morgan Hall, Taylor Martin and Zach Chase each tallied an assist. Malik Abouleish stopped 19 of 21 shots for the 12-9 Black Hawks.

Zac Campbell posted a goal from Brennen Shaw for Presque Isle in the first period while Parker Hovey scored in the second to tie the game 1-1. Ethan Hill made 24 saves on 27 shots for the 11-8-2 Wildcats.
