PORTLAND – The Maine Humanities Council has received a $10,000 grant from the Morton Kelly Charitable Trust to expand its adult literacy program, New Books, New Readers. The grant will help New Books, New Readers reach 800 constituents in 2008 with its reading and discussion program for low-literacy adults.
Participants in the program include immigrant English language learners and inmates in Maine’s prisons and county jails.
