Upscale development proposal unveiled

WESTBROOK – A Westbrook landowner and a New York developer are proposing to build a large upscale development in Westbrook that would include retail and office space and recreation facilities.

The project partners – Jason Arthur Snyder of Westbrook and Arthur Emil of New York – say the development would be called Stroudwater Place and be located near Exit 47 of the Maine Turnpike.

The project is in the preliminary stages and would require a zoning change from the city of Westbrook to move forward.

If the plan gets the necessary approvals, it would be built in phases over seven or eight years and would have retail shops, offices, a hotel, restaurants, an indoor ice-skating rink, a farmer’s market and possibly a movie theater.

The project would have 1.6 million square feet of space.
