Amanda, born in 1994, is an active, athletic girl who enjoys sports, hanging out with friends, and reading. She enjoys soccer, basketball and baseball and usually can be found playing one of these sports in her free time. Amanda also likes to skate. Ice-skating and roller-skating are two of her favorite activities.
Amanda does well in school with the support and one-on-one attention she receives during the day, and she says she likes school. Her favorite subject is math, and she likes numbers and figuring out the answers to math problems.
Amanda does well with peers and says when she is with her friends they go to the mall and talk about “girl stuff.” Amanda says she would like to go to Paris someday. She is studying the city in school and thinks it sounds “beautiful.”
Amanda likes pizza and spaghetti, but not with meat, which she does not enjoy. Her favorite color is pink and her favorite movie is “Home Alone.” She likes animals and says she would like a pet in her forever home.
The best family for Amanda would be one that is active in the community. Amanda enjoys many activities and would like a family that would participate in those things with her. She would like siblings, especially sisters, in her forever home. She also would do well as an only child.
An adoption subsidy may be available to the best family for Amanda. Amanda is one of 156 children in Maine Department of Health and Human Services care who is seeking an adoptive family. Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
