‘Not one more death!’

Over 50 cents of every federal income tax dollar for the coming year will be spent by the Pentagon. Does this make you feel safer? I don’t feel safer, since it’s the weapons and our foreign policy of trying to overthrow governments our politicians don’t like and invading countries we fear that is causing our own insecurity.

It will be five years this month since the U.S. military invaded Iraq. It has cost the lives of hundreds of thousands, maybe millions, of Iraqis and almost 4,000 U.S. troops, not to mention the soldiers coming home who will never be the same.

From Every Village Green is a series of events in every Maine county on March 15 (or March 16 if bad weather). The themes are simple: “Not One More Death! Not One More Dollar! Bring Them Home Now!” These events will take place on Saturday, March 15, in Bangor at 1 p.m. (vigil with signs stretched out from Bangor Auditorium to Homeless Shelter) and other towns around the state.
