BANGOR – March Madness comes to Newman Gym in the form of the ECAC New England Men’s Basketball Tournament today. No. 5 Husson College will play No. 8 University of New England at 2 p.m.

Admission is free.

Husson advanced in the eight-team field by knocking off No. 4 Fitchburg State 80-71, while U-New England upset No. 1 Emerson College 104-99 in overtime.

The other semifinal match features No. 3 Newbury College hosting No. 7 Western Connecticut State College University.

The semifinal winners will play in the finals on Sunday at 2 p.m. The game will be played at the highest remaining seed. The Eagles have an opportunity to host the championship game with a win Saturday and having WCSU upset Newbury.

“We are very excited to be playing in the postseason,” said Husson head coach Warren Caruso. “This will be the only postseason college basketball game held in Maine and we are grateful for the chance to host. Our student-athletes value the opportunity to win a post-season championship.”

Saturday’s game will be broadcast on WHSN 89.3 FM of Bangor and available on the internet at www.whsn-fm.com.

If the Eagles host the championship game on Sunday, the game will be broadcast on WZON 620 AM of Bangor and available on the internet at www.zoneradio.com.
