Nine high schools around the state hosted regional drama competitions this weekend with two winners from each site advancing to the 78th annual Maine Drama Festival state finals March 21-22 at Camden Hills Regional High School and Cape Elizabeth High School. More than 3,000 students from 79 high schools participated in the weekend’s events.

The regional winners were:

Regional site: Rockland District High School

. Class A winner, Lincoln Academy; alternate, Camden Hills.

. Class B winner, Rockland; alternate, Searsport.

Regional site: Mount Desert Island High School

. Class A winner, Bangor; alternate, Mount Desert.

. Class B winner, Calais; alternate, Shead.

Regional site: Marshwood High School

. Class A winner, Cape Elizabeth; alternate, Traip Academy.

. Class B winner, Portland; alternate Massabesic.

Regional site: Fort Kent Community High School

. Class A winner, Presque Isle; alternate Old Town.

. Class B winner, Fort Kent; alternate, Maine School of Science and Mathematics-Limestone.

Regional site: Winthrop High School

. Class B winners, Yarmouth and Winthrop; alternate Maine Central Institute.

Regional site: Skowhegan Area High School

. Class A winner, Mount Blue; alternate, Skowhegan.

. Class B winner, Orono; alternate, Central.

Regional site: Lawrence High School

. Class A winner, Gray-New Gloucester; alternate Waterville.

. Class B winner, Stearns-Schenck; alternate, Mount View.

Regional site: Thornton Academy

. Class A winners, Westbrook and Scarborough; alternate, Windham.

Regional site: Falmouth High School

. Class A winner, Falmouth; alternate, South Portland.
