ORONO – Coastal Maine Aquatics was crowned the top team in this weekend’s Maine Swimming Inc. Winter Combined Championships, while Molly Foley of the Piscataquis Region YMCA scored the most points in the girls ages 10-and-under group.

CMA, which is based in Cape Elizabeth, scored 6,4611/2 points in the four-day competition at the University of Maine’s Wallace Pool.

Long Reach Swim Club of the Bath YMCA was second with 6,270 points, followed by the Bangor Y Barracudas, who scored 2,0631/2 points for third place.

The Westbrook Seals were fourth (2,0001/2) and Seacoast Swim Club of Cumberland took fifth (1,605).

CMA and Long Reach combined to win all eight age groups. The Barracudas were second in the 10-and-under boys group, their best team finish.

Long Reach won the combined championship last year, while CMA won it in 2006.

Foley was the high point-scorer in her age group, putting up a total of 173 points thanks to wins in the 100-yard freestyle, the 100 individual medley, 50 backstroke, 200 free, 100 back and 50 free.

In other girls results, Mariah Reading, who swims for the Canoe City Swim Club of the Old Town-Orono YMCA, won the ages 13-14 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 200 breaststroke. Reading finished second in the individual point competition with 170 points.

MDI YMCA’s Leila Johnson scored 156 points to finish second to Foley in the 10-and-under age group. She took the 50 and 100 fly races.

Adrianna Beauchamp of the Bangor Y Barracudas won the 200 fly for ages 11-12 and Downeast Family YMCA of Ellsworth’s Chelsey Curran won the 13-14 100 back and wound up fifth in the points race.

Lilli Wiseman of the Bangor Y Barracudas was seventh in the 10-and-under points. Beauchamp was fourth in the 11-12 group. Lianna McCluskey, who swims for the Penobscot Bay YMCA in Rockport, was eighth in the 15-and-over girls category.

In boys results, Canoe City’s Liam Reading racked up 157 points to finish second in the 10-and-under age group. He won the 50 and 100 breaststroke, 100 free, 100 and 200 IM and 50 back and took second in the 50 free.

Carson Foley of the Bangor Y took the ages 13-14 100 and 200 breaststroke races. He was third in his age group with 153 points. Penobscot Bay’s Tyler Arndt won the 13-14 50 free.

MDI’s Justin Gilmartin was fifth in the points race in the 15-and-over boys category. He was the only non-CMA or Long Reach swimmer in the top eight.

Bangor’s Brian Dysart took sixth in the 10-and-under boys points and teammate John Peterson was eighth in the 11-12 group.
