WATERVILLE – Robert E. Diamond Jr., who majored in economics at Colby and is the president of the London-based financial services firm Barclays PLC, will deliver the commencement address at Colby’s 187th Commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 25.
Diamond joined Barclays in 1996 from CS First Boston, where he was head of Global Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange. Before joining CS First Boston, he was head of European-Asian Fixed Income trading for Morgan Stanley, where he worked for 13 years.
Diamond is a native of Concord, Mass., and received a bachelor’s degree from Colby in 1973 and a master’s degree in 1977 from the University of Connecticut.
Diamond will receive an honorary degree, as will museum director and curator Gabriella De Ferrari; Rocky Mountain Institute chairman and co-founder Amory Lovins; author, journalist and television writer-producer David Simon; and astronaut Sunita Williams.
