Bangor Savings Bank has named Christopher Winstead manager of its branch at 110 Park St. in Orono. Winstead comes to Bangor Savings with more than five years of banking experience in the Bangor area. He is a graduate of the Northern New England School of Banking and the Bangor Region Leadership Institute. He is chairman of Fusion, a local organization of young businesspeople, and serves on the board of Junior Achievement, the Bangor Public Library Book Festival Advisory Committee, and the United Way of Eastern Maine Leaders’ Circle Committee.
Ford S. Reiche, president of Safe Handling Inc. of Auburn, has been named the Maine Small Business Person of the Year for 2008 by the U.S. Small Business Administration. “Ford Reiche exemplifies the business expertise, commitment, creativity and community involvement sought in the selection of the Small Business Person of the Year,” said Maurice Dube, district director of the SBA. Every year the SBA recognizes outstanding small-business owners and business advocates for their personal achievements and contributions to the nation’s economy. Maine’s winners will be honored at a luncheon May 16 at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston. Other winners to be honored include Peter Richardson, president, Crobb Box Co., Ellsworth, Maine’s Jeffrey H. Butland SBA Family-Owned Small Business of the Year; James Macomber, Penquis CAP, Maine Home-Based Business Champion, New England winner; and Robert L. Johnston, Johnny’s Selected Seeds, Winslow, Maine Entrepreneurial Success Award.
