Anti-war rallies and vigils will be held across Maine on Saturday to mark the fifth anniversary of the March 19, 2003, start of the conflict in Iraq. Events scheduled for Saturday include the following in the Bangor Daily News circulation area:
Aroostook County
. 1 p.m., gathering at Caribou Universalist Church, 3 Grove St.
. 2 p.m., silent vigil in front of recreation center, Bennett Drive, Caribou.
. 2:30 p.m., refreshments, conversation, e-mailing and letter writing at Caribou Universalist Church, 3 Grove St.

. 1 p.m., Paul Bunyan Park, 519 Main St., Bangor, Chain of Concern vigil from Paul Bunyan Park to Bangor Homeless Shelter and live performance by Maine singer-songwriter Dave Mallett. Car pools to the event are being organized from Rockland, Lincoln, Belfast, Winterport, Pittsfield, Dover-Foxcroft, Hampden, Orono and Old Town.
Somerset County
. Noon-4 p.m., Empire Grill, 40 Water St., Skowhegan. There will be a live feed from the “Winter Soldier” gathering in the Washington, D.C., area.
