The National Weather Service in Caribou said it recorded 182.5 inches of snowfall between the beginning of the 2007-08 snowfall season and ending midnight March 20. That’s the greatest seasonal snowfall total in that area since record keeping began in 1939.
The previous record, 181.1 inches, was set during the 1954-55 snowfall season, the weather service said.
If Caribou receives normal snowfall for the remainder of March, April and May – 8.1 inches, 9.7 inches and 0.5 inch, respectively – Caribou would end the 2007-08 snow season with 200.8 inches of snowfall.
