Vietnam echo

The United States, unprovoked, invaded Iraq five years ago, saying it posed great danger to U.S. citizens. After the “shock and awe” invasion, when it was discovered that there was no threat, the U.S. decided to occupy Iraq. An Iraqi government was assembled and elections were held.

Five years later, when asked to explain our continued presence, since we had no justification for having invaded in the first place, our government argues it’s not important how we got there, we’re there now and we must “stay until our job is done.”

How reminiscent of Vietnam.
