American Jamboree planned Saturday in Milo

Let it be said we take nothing for granted at the moment, but, wrote Val Robertson, “we think it will really happen!”

Robertson is referring to the oft-postponed American Jamboree to benefit renovation of the Milo Cultural Art Center and the nonprofit Milo area animal shelter, PAWS, that is now scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, March 29, in the Milo Town Hall’s Winger Auditorium.

The event begins with supper items available at 5 p.m. for which the fee is a donation, as is admission to the concert.

Ronnie Knowles, “along with his troupe of talented musicians” is the featured act.

“If you have never been to one of their shows,” Robertson wrote, “this is your chance to participate in a rousing, heart-warming tribute to America and the music you grew up on. Country, gospel, rockabilly and Maine classics are performed, and not a toe in the place can keep still!”

If you want to dance, an “area will be available as the classic oldies get you out of your seat,” Robertson promises.

The evening includes a 50-50 drawing, desserts and beverages.

“What started out as a simple bake sale to raise money for the Heating and Warmth Fund has turned into a blowout benefit bash,” thanks to the participation of several local businesses, wrote Ellen Hathaway of Washington Hancock Community Agency in Ellsworth.

Eddie Pollack of Town Auto Sales will be host for the Benefit Bash, with doors opening at 9 a.m. for a preview of items and the auction beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Town Auto Sales on High Street in Ellsworth.

Hathaway reports that Pollack has received donations of auction items from Friend & Friend, Jordan’s Snack Bar, No Frills Oil and many others.

The fundraiser also includes a bake sale of homemade pastries and cakes.

Proceeds benefit WHCA’s THAW fund to help provide heating assistance to those in need.

Noah’s Ark Animal Workshop crew member Gail Ross of Holden and the American Diabetes Association invite you to a Stuff-N-Fluff Bunny Bash 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 29, at Dino’s Pizza in the Brewer Shopping Plaza on North Main Street.
