MACHIAS – The University of Maine at Machias has named Angelynn King, now a librarian at the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif., as library director for the university’s Merrill Library.

King will replace Bert Phipps, who was UMM’s librarian for 30 years until his retirement last May. Marianne Thibodeau has served as interim head librarian since Phipps retired. King is expected to start work in July.

King is married to John King, an elementary school teacher in math and science.

King holds a master’s degree in library and information science from Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and a bachelor’s degree in linguistics from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She has been a librarian at the University of Redlands since 1996. She previously worked at the Library of Congress and Catholic University’s library.
