Maine courts are holding their spring administrative shutdown this week.
Clerks’ offices in the state’s District and Superior courts will be open from noon to 4 p.m. The offices normally are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The temporary hours will allow court personnel to catch up on paperwork without interruption, according to the Administrative Office of the Courts in Portland.
Judges also will have an opportunity to catch up on research and writing, because only emergency matters will be heard in courtrooms around the state.
Similar administrative weeks have been held twice a year, in the fall and spring, for the past several years.
Regular hours will resume Monday, April 7.
