Nicole Morse and Kristy Fogler, physical therapists at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, have received doctoral degrees from Husson College in Bangor. “Many of the courses we took have helped us to provide enhanced patient care,” said Fogler. Only two schools in Maine offer doctorate work in physical therapy: Husson and the University of New England. Both Morse and Fogler said they chose Husson because they had completed both their undergraduate and their master’s programs there. Pierre Rougny, director of SVH Rehabilitation Services at the hospital, said: “Both Kristy and Nicole are great advocates for their patients. With their new clinical knowledge and ongoing level of professionalism, they are well equipped to give the most up-to-date care and better serve the community.” Formerly the STEP Center, SVH Rehabilitation has been providing care to patients since 1997 at its location on Leighton Avenue in Pittsfield. In 2006, SVH opened a second location in Newport. In addition to physical therapy, Sebasticook Valley Hospital offers occupational therapy, audiology, cardiac rehabilitation, lymphedema therapy, speech therapy, and brace and orthotic services.
