BANGOR – Members of the city’s planning board on Tuesday authorized plans to realign the entrance of Lamb’s Book and Bible Store at 877 Stillwater Ave.
The entrance reconfiguration is related to the construction of a Wal-Mart Supercenter, according to Bangor attorney Andy Hamilton, who represented property owner Palace Realty LLC.
Hamilton said that the entrance to Lamb’s is a requirement of the state traffic movement permit issued for the Wal-Mart Supercenter, which is planned for a parcel directly across the street.
The realignment will only occur if the Wal-Mart project happens.
As it stands, the Wal-Mart project and related roadway improvements are slated to go out to bid in the next few weeks, according to Michael Waugh, a traffic engineer with the James W. Sewall Co. The Old Town engineering firm has been involved in the design of several Stillwater Avenue commercial construction projects, including Bangor Parkade.
The board also approved plans for a major renovation project at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel at Bangor International Airport.
The project involves a 3,341-square-foot expansion, the replacement of three above- ground 1,000-gallon LP gas tanks with three underground tanks of the same size and modifications to the existing drop-off and arrival driveway and sidewalk.
Also on Tuesday, the board:
. Granted preliminary subdivision approval to Woods of Maine Inc. for the development of four house lots.
Though the application was for a relatively small number of lots, planning board members spent considerable time discussing the applicant’s plans during multiple meetings and a site visit because the subdivision at issue is part of a larger 40-lot subdivision planned for 1528 Ohio St.
. Authorized site plan approval for Stillwater Avenue LLC, which plans to build a new entrance onto Drew Lane from 444 Stillwater Ave. The plan calls for the construction of an additional right-turn lane on Drew Lane.
The board’s approval was granted with the condition that the developer provide detailed plans for work to be done with the public right of way.
. Granted site plan approval to Lead Mountain Properties for the construction of a 10,992-square-foot commercial warehouse and office building at 15 BanAir Road opposite Bangor Motor Sports.
. Approved a site plan for Ralph McPherson, who plans to build a three-unit apartment building and a four-unit apartment building at 543 Kenduskeag Ave. As a condition of approval, McPherson must provide details about the light fixtures to be used in the project.
