Suspect in burglary of pharmacy arrested

ROCKLAND – A suspect in the burglary of a scheduled drug from a local pharmacy was arrested Wednesday morning.

Officers from the Rockland Police Department and the Midcoast Task Force of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested Jeremy Nielsen, 31, of Rockland at 8:30 a.m. for the March 9 burglary of 3,500 hydrocodone tablets from Goodnow’s Pharmacy on Park Street, said Deputy Chief Wallace Tower of the Rockland Police Department. Nielsen was charged with burglary and felony theft.

Tower said no information was released about the theft at the time it happened because the investigation was ongoing.

At the time of his arrest, Nielsen was incarcerated in the Knox County Jail stemming from a March 29 arrest for violating conditions of release and possessing burglary tools.

“We do not believe the hydrocodone made it to the street to be distributed,” Tower said.

Rockland police Detective Chris Young is in charge of the investigation.
