BELFAST – The Waldo Boy Scout District announced its recognition awards at last week’s annual meeting and dinner at the Boat House at Steamboat Landing. The recognition awards were presented to district Scouting volunteers helping Scouts in Waldo County.

The Waldo District Award of Merit, the highest national award, was presented to David M. Colter. The Stover Award, a recently established local district award in honor of Henry and Gloria Stover, was presented to John Potter. The Katahdin Area Council Presidents Award was presented to Heidi Danna.

The District’s Scout Master of the Year Award was presented to Kevin Winslow, Belfast Troop 27, and Cub Master of the year was presented to Stanley Munson, Belfast Pack 30.

The district also established three years ago the District Spark Plug Award that recognizes Scouting volunteers who have “sparked enthusiasm in scouting.” Receiving the Spark Plug Award were Craig Riley of Belfast Troop 27, Melinda Bosk of Belfast Pack 938, Chris Aspinall of Unity Pack 233, and JoAnne Willis, District Cub Scout commissioner.
