Former Defense Secretary William Cohen will deliver the address at the University of Oklahoma’s spring commencement. The former Maine senator will speak May 9 and receive an honorary degree at the campus in Norman. Last year, about 20,000 people attended the graduation ceremony at which New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg spoke. While in the Senate, Cohen worked with David Boren, then a senator from Oklahoma and now the University of Oklahoma’s president. Cohen now is the chairman and chief executive officer of a consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. His visit to the OU campus will be his second this year. He joined Boren, Bloomberg and others in January at a bipartisan political summit held at the university.
