Man not registered as sex-offender arrested

PATTEN – Maine State Police found a Patten man who failed to register as a sex offender in New Hampshire hiding Thursday in a house in Patten.

State police Sgt. Tom Pelletier said that Todd Shaw, 31, was arrested on a New Hampshire warrant for failing to register as a sex offender in that state.

Shaw was convicted in 1998 in Houlton on a charge of aggravated felonious sexual assault, according to information from the New Hampshire Department of Public Safety.

The victim was younger than 18 years old.

After his arrest Thursday in Patten, Shaw was taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor to await extradition to New Hampshire. He remained at the jail Friday evening.

Trooper Timmy Saucier was assisted in the investigation by Deputy Peter Stone of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department.
