FORT KENT – Business and Professional Women members will accept a proclamation from the town acknowledging Tuesday, April 22, as Equal Pay Day in Fort Kent.
The proclamation will call attention to the wage gap in which women, on average, are paid 77 cents for every dollar paid to men, and will encourage the business community to review pay practices to ensure that women are not discriminated against in Fort Kent.
BPW/USA encourages employers to take advantage of the Equal Pay self-audit available at www.bpwusa.org, which the town also will perform.
