Farzana Doctor will read from her critically acclaimed debut novel, “Stealing Nasreen,” 12:15-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in the Bangor Room, Memorial Hall, University of Maine.

Telling the story of a doomed love triangle of sorts, the novel explores what happens when a lesbian from South Asia becomes involved in the lives of an apparently straight new immigrant couple from Mumbai.

Farzana Doctor is a Toronto-based South Asian writer. She is a social worker, educator and consultant.

The reading was organized by the Women in the Curriculum and Women’s Studies Program as part of Pride Week. The event is free and open to the public. Copies of “Stealing Nasreen” will be available for sale.
