WATERVILLE – Alyssa Crowell, Amanda Roehn and Carlie Minichino combined to give up only one run on four hits in two games as Colby College swept Bates of Lewiston 2-0 and 2-1 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Friday.

In the first game, Crowell allowed only two hits, both singles, while Lizzi Fort singled in the game’s only two runs for the Mules.

Val Beckwith and Jean McIntyre singled for the Bobcats.

In the second game, Alyssa Lepore knocked an RBI double and scored on an error while Roehn allowed just one run on two hits through six innings as Colby earned the sweep.

Minichino pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save.

McIntyre slapped an RBI single for Bates.

Saint Joseph’s sweeps Norwich

At Standish, Dustin Spiller homered, doubled and knocked in six runs to push Saint Joseph’s College to a 17-3 win over Norwich University in the second game of a doubleheader.

The Monks won the first game 7-2.

In the first game, Luke Enman hit a home run, double and single and drove in two runs for the Monks. Todd Keneborus homered and doubled, and Brian Schools scored three runs.

James Ramsay led Norwich with a double and two singles.

In the second game, Enman tripled and doubled for Saint Joseph’s. John Swasey and Keneborus both tripled, and Schools doubled and singled with two RBIs.

Brian Segit and Ramsay each hit solo home runs for the Cadets.

At Lewiston, Colin Riggs hit two home runs, a single, drove in four runs and scored four runs to lead Colby College of Waterville past Bates College.

Kyle McKay homered and singled twice for the Mules. Nick Spillane had a double and two singles and John LaMantia hit three singles.

Denis Hogan and Brian Mahoney each hit two-run singles in the sixth inning for the Bobcats.

At Brunswick, the Polar Bears erupted for 11 runs in the fourth inning while snapping a three-game losing streak.

Joe Pace allowed six hits and three runs in seven innings for Bowdoin, which was paced by a double and two singles by Pat Duchette and three singles and two RBIs by Brendan Garner.

Sam Shain hit two doubles and a single with two RBIs for Thomas College of Waterville. Cory Estes posted two singles and three RBIs, Jared Fieldsend singled twice (RBI) and Michael Chamard hit a solo home run.
