Wildlife Park opening April 24

Officials of the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray have announced that the park will open for the season on April 24.

The park is a 200-acre facility with more than 25 species of native Maine wildlife on exhibit.

Among the animals: moose, bear, deer, mountain lions, hawks and owls.

There are also nature trails and wildlife gardens, interactive exhibits and a nature store.

Special wildlife events will begin in May and run through Labor Day.

The park is open from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., and visitors must leave the premises before 6 p.m. Admission is free for those under age 3, $4 for those 4-12, $6 for adults and $4.50 for seniors.

Hampden rifle match set

The Hampden Rifle and Pistol Club will host a 600-yard match on Sunday.

The match will consist of 66 rounds.

Competitors must sign in by 8:30 a.m. and attend the safety briefing. Call 862-2948 for more information.
