WATERVILLE – McKell Barnes hit a home run and a double to drive in four runs as the University of Maine at Farmington raced past Fisher College 19-1 in the first game of a softball doubleheader Monday.
The Beavers also beat Fisher 15-6 in the nightcap.
In the first game, Lauren Overlock knocked in three runs while hitting a double and a single for the Beavers. Megan Goodrow scored three runs and singled twice.
Sonya Newton had two singles and an RBI for Fisher.
In the second game, Barnes had a double, single and three RBIs to lead UM-Farmington. Kasey McPhail tripled with two RBIs and Goodrow added two singles and two runs scored.
Fisher’s Newton had two singles and three RBIs and Mcihelle Oliverio added two doubles and two runs scored.

Saint Joseph’s 2-4, Mount Ida 1-0
At Standish, Ellen Neff hit a two-run single in the fourth inning to lead Saint Joseph’s College past Mount Ida College with a 2-1 victory in the opening game of a twinbill.
The Monks also won the nightcap 4-0.
In the first game, Cat DeSimone doubled, singled and scored a run for Saint Joseph’s. Megan Farrell singled and scored.
Kerri Kwasek singled and knocked in a run for Mount Ida.
In the second game, Renee Leach hit three singles and drove in a run for the Monks. Liddy van der Linden and Natasha Howard doubled.
Mount Ida’s Becky Tisbert singled three times.

Fisher sweeps UM-Farmington
At Farmington, Evan Tardugno allowed just three hits and walked none while striking out eight through seven inning to lead Fisher College to the 10-0 shutout win over the University of Maine at Farmington in the first game of a doubleheader. Fisher also won the second game 4-0.
In the first game, Thomas Englehardt hit a double and two singles while driving in three runs for Fisher. Eddy Delcarmen added three singles and two RBIs.
Phineas Peake, Corey Provencher and Tyler Hanson singled for the Beavers.
In the second game, Anthony Perry had a single, two stolen bases and a run scored for Fisher.
Provencher singled and stole a base for UM-Farmington and Mike Cummons also singled.

At Waterville, Ken Kaufman scored three runs and singled twice to help lift Colby College over Thomas College.
Richard Newton and Dom Morrill each doubled and singled for Colby. Spencer Jacobson hit an RBI double and Michael Cuqua added an RBI single in the top of the fourth.
Tom Desjardins doubled and singled to lead Thomas. Michael Chamard had three RBIs while Jared Fieldsend and Cory Estes both singled twice.
