Outlook: The Black Bears’ aim in this contest is to get some much-needed work for a handful of pitchers. UMaine must improve its depth and experience on the mound to stay in contention for an America East playoff spot. The Terriers have lost four straight after Monday’s defeat against crosstown rival Colby. Thomas, coached by former UMaine catcher Greg King, is 5-2 in the North Atlantic Conference. The Terriers play three nonconference games this week before key NAC weekend contests against rival Husson (2) and Elms. Today marks only the third game UMaine has played on its home field this season.
