JACKSON, Miss. – James Green was hired as the men’s basketball coach at Jacksonville State, leaving Mississippi Valley State after leading the Delta Devils to their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1996.

Green replaces former University of Maine assistant coach and player Mike LaPlante, fired after going 95-137 in eight seasons at Jacksonville State.

Green spent three seasons at MVSU following eight years as coach at Southern Mississippi. The Delta Devils went 17-16 this season and won the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament championship.
