SACO – Divers have recovered the body of a 12-year-old boy who fell into the Saco River and was swept away by the current.

The Maine Marine Patrol said the body of Raymond Rivera of Saco was found Sunday 14 feet below the surface, trapped in debris that had accumulated on a sandbar.

Rivera was reported missing Saturday when he slipped on rocks and fell into the water while playing with a group of children.

The accident occurred below a dam that pushes a powerful current several hundred yards downriver from where the accident occurred.
