Bangor Raceway has had to postpone its opening weekend of racing for a third straight week due to soft and potentially unsafe track surface conditions due to a late thaw.

“The track still hasn’t come along like we thought it was going to,” said track racing/promotions director Corey Smith. “We have a track specialist coming up and we’ll be working on it Sunday and Monday.

“We had enough horses, but felt it still wasn’t safe enough.

The 2008 official opening day is now Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m.
