CASTLETON, Vt. – Megan Goodrow hit two home runs and a single to drive in five runs to lead the University of Maine at Farmington past Castleton State College 13-3 in the first game of a NAC softball doubleheader Thursday.
Castleton came back to win the nightcap 7-6.
In the first game, Kelly McDonough singled four times for UM-Farmington and McKell Barnes had two doubles. Lauren Overlock had two doubles and three runs scored.
Tosha Whittemore had two singles and two RBIs for Castleton.
In the second game, Sarah Flore hit had an RBI groundout in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Castleton the win. Alicia Zraunig hit a home run and two singles.
Barnes homered and singled to lead the Beavers. Goodrow had a double and two singles and Kasey McPhail singled twice.

At Waterville, Annie Wilson hit a three-run triple in the second inning to help lift Colby College over Bowdoin College of Brunswick.
Alyssa Crowell allowed just two runs on three hits and one walk while striking out two to earn the complete-game win for Colby.
Colby’s Carlie Minichino doubled.
Clare Ronan doubled and scored a run for Bowdoin.

USM gets split
At Gorham, Sabrina Mills slapped an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to propel the University of Southern Maine to a 7-6 victory over Bridgewater State in the first game of a doubleheader.
Bridgewater won the nightcap 3-2 in five innings, as darkness suspended that contest.
In the opener, Stacey Stuart knocked a pair RBI doubles, one in the bottom of the fifth and another in the bottom of the ninth.
Meghan Noyes led Bridgewater with a two-run single and RBI double.
In the nightcap, Noyes and Lindsey Allison each had an RBI single for the Bears as they captured the split.
Kristina Grondin had an RBI single for Southern Maine.

Maine Maritime sweeps Thomas
At Waterville, Brittany Oxley doubled and singled while driving in two runs to help lead Thomas College to the 6-2 win over Maine Maritime Academy of Castine in Wednesday’s opening game. The Terriers also won the second game 6-1.
In the first game, Kim Denbow doubled and scored two runs for Thomas and Jen Higgins had a single and an RBI.
Nicole Poland and Hannah Seamans each singled twice.
In the second game, Lindsay Sierra had two singles and two RBIs to lead Thomas. Denbow singled twice.
Maine Maritime’s Megan Russell hit two singles.
