Waldo County group taps four new advisers

ELLSWORTH – Four new advisers have been appointed to the Waldo County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation: Mary Frenning of Northport, Faith Garrold of Searsport, Glen Widmer of Montville, and Tess Woods of Unity.

Frenning is a founding member of the Belfast Senior College. She served on the fundraising committee for the Waldo County YMCA and currently is on the capital campaign committee for the University of Maine Hutchinson Center.

Garrold was active in education in Waldo County for more than 35 years as a teacher and administrator. She is adjunct professor of early childhood education at Eastern Maine Community College and serves on the budget advisory committee for the town of Searsport.

Widmer is a teacher at Troy A. Howard Middle School in Belfast and a town selectman for Montville. He is also a board member of the Sheepscot Wellspring Land Alliance.

Woods is executive director of the Unity Barn Raisers and president of Healthy Waldo County. She is a graduate of Unity College and is a former town official.

Community leaders established the Waldo County Fund in 1990. Since its establishment, the fund’s advisory committee has awarded grants totaling more than $228,000 to nonprofits and public agencies in Waldo County in the areas of education, arts and humanities, economic development, social and community services, and youth.
