O’Brien’s home run lifts Blue Devils past Bulldogs

MACHIAS – Matt O’Brien hit a two-run go-ahead home run in the fourth inning to lift the Calais Blue Devils to an 8-6 high school baseball victory over the Machias Bulldogs Monday.

Dylan Ramsdell added a single and two runs scored for Calais.

Jacob Scoville hit a two-run single to lead Machias. Matt Little had an RBI double and Jacob Stevens singled twice.

Matt Moore singled twice to knock in two runs, Corey Smith had two singles and an RBI and Josh Beal a double and a single for the Knights.

Terrell Carver had two singles and Lucas Holmes a single for Jonesport-Beals.

At Blue Hill, junior Peter Dickinson allowed two hits and hit two batters while striking out a career-high 14 through seven innings as he led George Stevens Academy to victory.

Josh Astbury scored the winning run in the first inning on wild pitch for the Eagles and Nick Saunders singled to drive in an insurance run.

Justin Pelkey allowed two runs on one hit and four walks while striking out eight for Stearns of Millinocket. Jason LeVasseur doubled and Pelkey hit a single.

At Belfast, Luke Morrill and Ethan Jarrett combined to allow four hits and three walks with six strikeouts as Rockland shut out Belfast.

Dale McGuire hit two singles and drove in three runs for Rockland. Ryan Meklin had two singles and scored three runs and Dylan Meklin doubled and singled with an RBI.

Derick Bernosky, Tyler Bowen, Josh Beal and Jake Arthers singled for Belfast.

At Eastport, Scott Boomer pitched five innings to earn the win and contributed to his own cause with two singles and two RBIs for the visiting Dragons.

Ben Sears had a double, two singles and two RBIs for Woodland. Aaron St. Pierre added a double and single.

A.J. Seeley hit a two-run triple for the Tigers and Tom Pottle added a two-run single.

Ethan Woodman had a double for the Tigers.

Erin Moran hit a two-run single for the Mariners.

Jon Johnson had a double, two singles and an RBI to pace the Patriots. Chris Potter added an RBI single.

At Blue Hill, Lydia Clapp smacked an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to propel the George Stevens Academy Eagles to victory.

Stearns of Millinocket had scored three times in the top of the inning to tie the score at 17.

Lexi Wessell singled three times and drove in six runs for the Eagles.

Paige Curtis led the Minutemen with a two-run homer while Becca Leavitt added two singles.

At Searsport, Michelle Chapman allowed one run on three hits and three walks while striking out 12 to lead Dexter past Searsport.

Alyssa Crane singled three times and drove in a run to pace Dexter. Sam Conway hit an RBI triple and a single. Becky Johnson had an RBI double and Eva Wing tripled.

Kylie Jettinghoff, Jana Frances-Mezger and Megan Higgins singled for Searsport. Emma Clark scored the run.

At Harrington, the Knights rallied to win in the bottom of the seventh after Jonesport-Beals had tied the score in the top half.

Kim Greene got it started with a bunt single, stole second then came around to score the winning run on Andrea Perry’s double.

Jessica Tenan doubled and singled for Narraguagus; Whitney Norton had a double and single for Jonesport-Beals.

At Eastport, Julia Nicholas hit for the cycle with a single, double, triple and grand slam to lead the Dragons to victory.

Nicholas finished with eight RBIs and added another single. Courtney Cochran chipped in with seven RBIs with three triples and two home runs and Cali Anthony drove in four runs with four singles and a triple.

A single by Shead’s Shelly Melanson drove in Dorothy Pottle, who also singled.

At Waldoboro, junior righthander Kayla Vannah allowed just one run on one hit, one hit batter and no walks while striking out nine to lead Medomak Valley to victory.

Kayla Santheson singled three times to lead Medomak Valley. Ashley Hunt hit a double and two singles as Tessa Dodge, Missy Kent and Rachel Keefe each doubled and singled.

Lynn Mayberry doubled in the sixth inning and scored on a pass ball.

Audra Eaton slapped an RBI single for Deer Isle-Stonington.

Anna Thompson’s single to left in the third was the Bulldogs’ only hit.
