Senior citizens and pre-school through second-grade students are invited to enjoy the John Bapst Memorial High School Spring Concert Dress Rehearsal performance from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, at John Bapst Auditorium, 100 Broadway in Bangor.
There is no admission charge for the dress rehearsal. Representatives of groups of 15 or more should call the Bapst Fine Arts Department at 947-0313 to reserve seats.
Melody Weeks reports the concert features 250 musicians celebrating “spring with familiar musical selections” by the Concert Band, the Chamber Ensemble, the Jazz Band, the Chorale and the Concert Choir.
The Spring Concerts are 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Bapst.

Dave Wollstadt reminds readers the Old Town Rotary Club is hosting its Second annual Charity Auction at the Black Bear Inn in Orono. A lasagna supper begins at 5 p.m., and the live auction will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 1.
The celebrity auctioneer is the Rev. Bob Carlson. Proceeds benefit the Maine Youth Fish & Game Association, Penobscot Community Health Care and other Rotary charities.
Admission is $15. Tickets are available at the door or at Carl’s Barber Shop, Cyr Northstar Tours and Gossamer Press, all in Old Town.
Auction items range from a camp for a week at East Grand Lake to a homemade pie each month for a year.

Training topics are the Connection Between Interpersonal Violence and Animal Cruelty, Animal Abuse and Safe Havens, and Investigations and Legal Issues.

Formerly known as WalkAmerica, the event raises funds for the March of Dimes to help prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality, Hansen wrote.

Bangor High School Music Boosters Pops Night begins with a Silent Auction at 6:30 and dessert and music at 7 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the high school on Broadway.

Dot Baron will be honored with her own quilt display and tea room, Boutaugh wrote.
The event features more than 100 quilts, including “some vintage, and a military quilt sent to families of deceased soldiers.”
Your donation will benefit the club’s community projects ranging from quilts for the schools to children in need.
Vendors will be present, and for a fee you can have your scissors sharpened.
Also in Millinocket on Saturday, a health fair will be held at Stearns High School and Pine Tree Treasures on Central Street will have its grand opening.
