Former University of Maine football standout Matt King has signed a free agent contract with the Hamilton (Ontario) Tiger Cats of the Canadian Football League.

The Tiger Cats will begin their preseason camp next month, and will open on June 12.

King, a defensive lineman at Maine from 2002-06, came back from an injury for the 2006 season and turned in one of the finest defensive performances in school history and in the nation with 11.5 sacks, second in the nation at the Division I Football Championship Subdivision level. He earned All-American and All-Atlantic 10 first-team selections.
