New on the scene

The Knox Mill Center in downtown Camden will have a new tenant beginning Friday, May 2, with the opening of the new Brevetto Kitchen and Wine Bar. Josh Hixson, co-owner of Sage Market, also in Camden, will unveil his latest venture this weekend in the multiuse retail and condo space. Brevetto will feature fine wines and artisanal beer from the Market, with more than 20 wines offered by the glass, and several offered as quartinos, or one-third of a bottle. According to Hixson, the entire Italian-influenced menu will be priced under $20, with small, medium and large plates lending a tapas-style feel. There’s patio seating for the warmer months, a communal table inside, as well as a large, traditional dining room. Reservations for the Friday grand opening are now being accepted; call 594-5776 for more information.

Everyone gets to be Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, and everyone gets to be Mexican on Cinco de Mayo. From noon to 6 p.m. Monday, May 5, Miguel’s Mexican Restaurant on Hogan Road in Bangor will have its first Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, with a tent set up outside for you and all your amigos to enjoy some south of the border fun, including live music and door prizes. A Mexican-style barbecue is planned, but more importantly, there’ll be $2 bottles of Corona and Tecate, and half-priced pitchers of margaritas. For the kids, there’ll be games, a juggler and balloon animals. Members of Miguel’s staff even hint at rumors of a special appearance by a miniature donkey. Excuse me – un peque?o burro. Butter me up

Sweet cream and sea salt. That’s all you need to make heavenly, sumptuous, delicious butter.
